Bang Si-hyuk Weight Loss: Can Photos Prove Wegovy Use?

Bang Si-hyuk weight loss has become a fresh topic after recent photos showed the HYBE chairman with a noticeably slimmer face and more defined jawline. That visual change has also led to online speculation about whether he may have used Wegovy or another weight-loss medication. Recent news coverage confirms the change in his appearance, but it does not document the use of Wegovy, semaglutide, or another anti-obesity drug.
A photo can tell us that someone looks different. It cannot tell us how many pounds they lost, how much body fat changed, how long the change took, or whether medication, diet, exercise, surgery, or several methods were involved.
What Do Bang Si-hyuk’s Recent Photos Actually Show?
Photos and videos shared in August 2026 showed Bang Si-hyuk attending a CORTIS performance. News reports noted that his face appeared slimmer and his jawline looked sharper than in some earlier public appearances. His physique has also appeared to fluctuate across previous public photos.
Those observations describe appearance, not a measured weight-loss result.
There are no publicly reported measurements showing his starting weight, current weight, waist circumference, body-fat percentage, or the exact period over which any weight change occurred. The reports also do not establish what method he may have used.
That distinction matters when celebrity photos start conversations about prescription weight-loss drugs. Looking slimmer is not evidence that someone used a GLP-1 medication.
Can You Estimate Body Fat Loss From a Slimmer Face?
Not reliably.
Facial appearance can change with body weight, but photographs are not standardized medical measurements. Camera angle, lighting, posture, facial expression, clothing, hairstyle, and differences between photos can all affect how lean or broad someone looks.
Body weight itself also does not tell you exactly how much body fat has changed. A clinical weight-management assessment may use repeated body weight, BMI, waist measurements, medical history, and other information depending on the individual.
This means it would not be reasonable to look at Bang Si-hyuk’s face and calculate that he lost a certain percentage of body fat—or to work backward and decide which medication produced the change.
Who Is Wegovy Used for in the United States?
Wegovy contains semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Current U.S. FDA labeling includes Wegovy for long-term weight reduction in adults with obesity and in adults with overweight who also have at least one weight-related medical condition. It is used together with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
The major adult weight-management trials enrolled people with a BMI of at least 30, or a BMI of at least 27 with one or more weight-related conditions.
A prescription decision therefore involves much more than whether someone wants to lose weight. A health care professional may consider BMI, weight-related conditions, current medications, medical history, contraindications, potential adverse effects, and the person’s overall treatment goals.
U.S. Wegovy options have also changed since the original 2.4 mg injection studies. FDA labeling now includes injectable and oral semaglutide formulations, and in March 2026 the FDA approved a higher-dose 7.2 mg Wegovy injection for certain adults.
What Does the Famous 14.9% Wegovy Weight-Loss Number Mean?
The frequently cited 14.9% average weight reduction comes from the STEP 1 clinical trial. It should not be treated as a prediction of what one individual will lose.
The trial included adults with overweight or obesity who did not have diabetes.
| STEP 1 | Study details |
|---|---|
| Participants | 1,961 adults |
| Treatment | Semaglutide 2.4 mg injection once weekly |
| Duration | 68 weeks |
| Additional treatment | Lifestyle intervention |
| Mean weight change | -14.9% with semaglutide |
| Placebo mean weight change | -2.4% |
The important part is the study setting. Participants were selected using specific eligibility requirements, received a particular semaglutide dose, were followed for 68 weeks, and received lifestyle intervention along with medication.
Some people lost more than the average and others lost less. The result does not mean that every person taking Wegovy will lose 14.9% of their starting weight.
It also should not be used to estimate how much weight a celebrity lost based on photographs.
Wegovy Is a Prescription Treatment, Not a Celebrity Diet Shortcut
Wegovy can cause side effects. Commonly reported adverse effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, indigestion, and other gastrointestinal symptoms. The prescribing information also contains important warnings and contraindications that should be reviewed before treatment.
For example, Wegovy is contraindicated in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2.
That is why another person’s visible weight loss—even a dramatic change—does not answer whether Wegovy is appropriate for you.
What You Can Take From the Bang Si-hyuk Weight Loss Story
Bang Si-hyuk appears slimmer in recent public images. That is the part supported by the available reporting. Whether Wegovy played any role has not been established in those reports.
If you are considering Wegovy, a more useful comparison is not how closely your body resembles someone in a celebrity photo. Check your BMI, weight-related health conditions, medical history, current medications, and the benefits and risks of treatment with a qualified health care professional.
Clinical trial averages can help explain what happened in a studied population. They cannot reveal what treatment another person used—or predict exactly what will happen to you.
